DLC Resources provides comprehensive arbor management services to communities where we are not contracted for complete landscape management. We target communities with a minimum of 750 units or a minimum of 1,000 trees.
Large master-planned communities have many diverse assets to manage. Trees can be particularly difficult to manage because they are often unquantified. Yet, they represent one of the community's most valuable assets. Aside from total asset value, trees define a community. They provide beauty. They provide protection. They enhance the lifestyle of the community. They even clean the air.
While trees can be a community's most valuable asset, they can also be one of its largest exposures to liability risk. DLC has developed a proprietary program using GIS and database technology to help master-planned communities properly manage their trees. We determine how many trees are in a community, we design a trees care program, we prune the trees and then keep track of it all.
If trees are managed properly, liability exposure is minimized and the total asset value will increase.

Count The Trees First, our Field Data Collector determines the location and specific attributes of each tree using GIS based technology. The data is added to a database and plotted on top of an aerial photograph. The data can be filtered in any number of ways to show individual species of tree, storm damaged trees, trees near entrances, etc. |

Calculate The Value Using the internationally recognized ISA tree valuation formula, we calculate the total value of the tree inventory. Quantifying this asset is critical because most master-planned communities have not determined how much their trees are worth. Homeowners are often surprised. In addition, this information can be used to determine replacement values after storm damage. |

Design A Tree Care Program The next step is to design a tree care program which establishes a multi-year budget based on the needs of the tree inventory. This helps a master-planned community to budget the appropriate amount of money each year for properly maintaining their tree asset and thereby increasing the total value. |

Properly Prune The Trees Following the tree care program, our experienced tree crews prune the trees based on ISA guidelines and ANSI specifications. We have 8 certified arborists on staff including our Field Data Collector. Our experienced tree crews are well trained and use top of the line equipment. |

Track and Record Results After work is completed, we update the data and provide as-pruned maps. The as-pruned maps serve as a historical record and help minimize liability by demonstrating that the community has a comprehensive arbor management program in place. |
